Harman School PTO Committees

Bells and Whistles Fundraising
Chair:   Helpdesk
Description:   This committee is responsible for tracking the sales of the Paperless PTO Bells and Whistles fundraising program.
 
Bike/Walk to School Event
Chair:   Kelly Teemer & Rachel Jessup
Description:  

This committee is responsible for our Bike/Walk to school event that takes place every year. These individuals are responsible for organizing at executing the event. They provide donated snacks and water as well as organize volunteers from Oakwood High School.

 
Cafeteria
Chair:   Carolina Douglas
Description:  

This committe member is responsible for finding volunteers to help in our lunch room. 

 
Chess Club

Description:  

This committee is responsible for organzing our chess club. 

 
Coding Club
Chair:   Clay Koschnick
Description:  

This committee is responsible for leading the coding club. This is traditionally a club that has met after school and utilizes programs to learn the skill of coding. This is a club offered for 3rd-6th grade.

 
COSI

Description:  

This committee is responsible for organzing the week that COSI attends Harman School. They coordinate with the school staff and recruit volunteers to help with the event.

 
D.A.R.E
Chair:   Alison Silvain & Dena Czeiszperger
Description:  

D.A.R.E stands for "Drug Abuse Resistance Education". This committee is responsible for organizing and executing educational opportunities to teach our young Harman Students about the dangers of Drugs.

 
Garden Committee

Description:  

This committe is responsible for keeping the grounds of Harman School looking beautiful. If you enjoy gardening, this is the perect committee for you. You will be responsible for organzing volunteers and executing their roles.

 
Grand Affair

Description:  

This committee is responsible for executing our Grand Affair event. Grand Affair is a walk-through art gallery featuring art displays from all the students at Harman School. It is a wonderful event. Light beverages and snacks are included as well as volunteers to help hang all the artwork. 

 
Harman Book Fair
Chair:   Jessica BonDurant & Emma Butler
Description:  

This committee is responsible for organizing and executing our Scholastic Book Fair. The book fair runs for several days and requires many volunteers. This event provides countless free books for our school as well as keeps our kids reading!

 
Harman PTO Directory

Description:  

This committe member is in charge of exectuing our Printed Diretory for Harman School. This is compiled from PTO paid members as well as class lists from Harman School.

 
Harman Teacher Representatives

Description:  

We love our teachers! The PTO is honored to include 2 teachers every year to participate in providing feedback to our board. 

 
Harman Trivia Night

Description:  

This committee is responsible for organzing and executing our largest fundraiser for Harman School. This event is usually held in the fall and requires several sub-committees as well as volunteers.

 
Harmany

Description:  

This committee is responsible for the publication of Harmany. This is bound book with different literary works of Harman students. This member is responsible for communicating with Harman Teachers and gathering different literary works to be combined in this purchasable book.

 
Homeroom Parents

Description:  

This committe is responsible for finding parent volunteers to serve as Homeroom parent. The parents are responsible for organizing and executing school events within their child's classroom.

 
Hospitality Committee

Description:  

This committee is responsible for welcoming new families into our Harman Family. Whether it be a new family or a transfer. 

 
Lange School Liaison

Description:  

This committee member is responsible for providing information to incoming 1st graders who currently attending Lange School. Lange is Oakwood's Kindergarten school. We work closely with Harrison Gowdy who is the Lange School secretary.

 
Library

Description:  

This committee member is responsible for organizing volunteers to work in the Harman Library. This is a great opportunity for you to see your child during the day!

Description:  

We value our parent volunteers and our Members at Large are no different. These parents are committed to supporting our PTO through volunteer opportunites and valuable feedback.

Military Kids

Description:  

This committee is responsible for making our military kids feel welcome. We understand that these families make countless transitions and it is no different for their children. We want those children to feel welcome!

 
School Supplies

Description:  

This committe works with a partner company called SchoolKidz. This incredible company provides parents the opportunity to purchase all their "Back-to-school" items from one place. This is also a fundraising opportunity for the PTO.

 
Sixth Grade Recognition
Chair:   Position Needed
Description:  

This committe is responsible for recognizing our 6th grade class as they move onto the Junior Highschool. It's a special time for our Harman kids as they make this transition. This committe organizes and executes an event/dance to honor them. Students typically pay a ticket admittance fee to attend the dance.

 
Sixth Grade Showcase
Chair:   Sarah Patterson
Description:  

This committee is responsible for showcasing the talents of our 6th grade class. This is typically a space within Harman to display workings of the 6th grade class. This is typically done by a parent who has a 6th grader.

 
Spanish Club

Description:  

This committee is responsible for our Spanish Club. The members lead and execute our Spansih club.

 
Spirit Wear
Chair:   Sarah Cox
Description:  

This committee is responsible for organzing our Spirit Wear sale. They are in contact with local printers to choose our spirit wear options for the upcoming year. 

 
Teacher Appreciation

Description:  

This committee is responsible for organizing different events to honor our teachers. Whether that be a nice catered meal, or purchasing classroom items from a teacher's wishlist. We want to make our teacher's feel special and honor them year-round. 

 
Workroom

Description:  

The committe member is responsible for finding volunteers for our Harman School Workroom. Volunteering for this position enables you to spend some time organizing, printing and helping our Harman Teachers with various tasks.
